Deep Tissue Massage

Amed at the sub-layers of muscle and connective tissue to resolve chronic tightness.

Aimed at the deeper tissue structures of the muscle and fascia (connective tissue) to relieve chronic tension and break down muscle knots.

Deep tissue massage uses slow, deliberate strokes and deep finger pressure to target the sub-layers of muscles and connective tissues. It is particularly effective for chronic aches and pains in contracted areas such as a stiff neck, upper back tightness, low back pain, and shoulder soreness.

It is designed to release chronic muscle tension or "knots"—also known as "adhesions"—that form in muscles, tendons, and ligaments. Adhesions can block circulation and cause pain, limited movement, and inflammation.

What to Expect

Deep tissue massage requires intense pressure, which might feel slightly uncomfortable compared to a classic relaxation massage. You should always communicate with your therapist regarding the depth of pressure; tensing up in response to pain actually makes it harder for the therapist to achieve results. You are always better off receiving pressure that you can comfortably tolerate while remaining relaxed.

After Your Treatment

It's important to drink plenty of water after a deep tissue massage to help flush lactic acid and waste products out of your tissues. Mild muscle soreness or achiness the day after is completely normal and will quickly subside, leaving you feeling lighter and more mobile.
